17 June, World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought!

Due to the climate crisis, the globe's average temperature has increased by 1.1 °C since the pre-industrial period. Approximately 216 million people will be facing the risk of emigration by 2050 due to water scarcity, reduction in agricultural productivity, rising sea levels, and overpopulation in many parts of the globe.

So what can be done?

We must not open forests, pastures, and fertile agricultural lands to urbanization. We must fight against erosion and restore destroyed lands.
